Any vocal coach will tell you that strengthening the middle voice is the key to success in any singer’s or voice
actor’s career. There are many ways of doing this, but the one exercise that helps you find “the middle”
and completely isolate it is my technique that I developed:
Vocalorgonometry. Along those lines, as a singer myself, I further built upon my discoveries in that area to create an exercise that takes
the form of actual singing(as opposed to strictly internal toning in the original Vocalorgonometry).
In the normal voice, there are three sections: the lower, the middle, and the head voices. In most people, only the lower
voice is adequately developed. That is, the middle voice is virtually non-existent, and the head voice is a falsetto. Yet
a good singer needs to be able to tap into all three effortlessly. This new technique in Vocalorgonometry, which I will call
the “voice-builder”, taps into the falsetto of a person to bring them into the middle voice and further strengthen
the lower voice.
The first thing I would recommend is finding an electronic keyboard; even a cheap one will do. The reason why is that we
want to work with the “strings” setting. The advantage of this choice on the keyboard is that it sustains a note
for however long you need it, as a piano will contrarily lose its sound after a couple of seconds. If you can’t find
one or get one, don’t really worry about it too much. However, the keyboard also develops a good ear for intonation,
or an “ear for singing in key”, in the practitioner.
Next, choose a fairly high note that you can only reach with falsetto-- which means that the note is sounded by you, but you
don’t feel it strongly in the voice. You will need to sing it with a nice, round “ah” sound; imagine an
“ah” sphere in your voice area(vocal cords, mouth, partly in the nasal passage). It is also important to open
your mouth as wide as you can while singing. Then start sounding the note. Once you find a fairly comfortable note, just
relax into it. Sing the one note for as long as you can, matching it to the note on the keyboard. Then switch down to a
lower area, perhaps an octave(12 notes) or so down, and do the same thing. For the next time, go up an half an octave(6 notes),
executing the technique in the same way. Keep going up and down the keys in this manner indefinitely.
As you perform the voice-builder, you should feel the need to express grief at some point. Let it flow out, if possible,
and keep going and practicing. However, there are some particular difficulties in the technique for people who have suffered
mind-control abuse.
I have found that this new method actually is safer, yet it still presents significant problems for people who have “programming”.
People with mind control programming will undoubtedly experience a few negative reactions upon performing the voice-builder.
“Flooding” will continue to be an obstacle, but it is not as constricting as it was under the previous version.
Execute Step 2 of Vocalorgonometry if you need to.
A possible major problem will be “earthquake programming”, which will produce anything from vague, generalized
anxiety to extreme terror. As we saw in the first version of Vocalorgonometry, this is simply repressed emotions surfacing--
which need to be released. Instead of suffocation, however, the danger here is trying to stay sane under the pressurized
terror effect. A person
can overcome this with enough will-power(and with supplements such Valerian Root and Kava,
if you can find them). If you experience earthquake programming, the absolutely most important thing to do is for you and
others to pray to God through Jesus Christ for peace.
However, I know of a programming case where earthquake programming didn't activate. Instead, the person experienced a few
migraines and hotflashes. So don't fear the side-effects; they will probably be manageable.
After practicing the voice-builder over period of days(or weeks, depending on the individual), you should feel the voice trying
to drop into a tight, constricted area of the voice. This will happen if you have been practicing while concentrating on
getting your voice to
relax. Let it drop in there, even though it will cut off the note because of no air-flow. Once
you’ve let it cut off a couple of times, sing the note again, but don’t let it drop completely into that area.
It should sound gravelly and out of control. This is the undeveloped middle voice. Mix that middle with the falsetto, just
enough to keep it going without letting it cut off again. If the note doesn’t sound right harmonically, don’t
worry about it. At this point, we are more concerned about finding the area and developing it more than anything else. You
will need to push the note up when it is trying to cut off, but don’t push too much; there should not be straining to
keep it going. Take a break when you need to, and drink some water.
When you become comfortable with the "ah" sound, and the voice starts dropping into "middle", open your mouth wide as if you
were going to say "duh", and switch to sing "oh". Make this a full, rounded-out sound that resonates deep in the throat
area. Try to make it sound like "oh" without a trace of "uh". This action will further fill out the voice.
As you perform the voice-builder, you will start to connect the middle with the falsetto, and a genuinely complete voice will
begin to be formed. I will admit to you that I am still in the beginning stages of this method, and I have by no means entirely
strengthened my voice
yet. However, when a person practices this, the improvements will happen fairly quickly.
You may say, "But my beautiful voice now sounds trashed." Realize that this is a temporary stage, and that this is a sign
that you have been using very little of your true, natural voice-- thereby putting severe limitations on yourself. When someone
hasn't used their middle voice their entire life, this section of the vocal emission will tire very easily. In this way,
it is akin to building muscle; the more you practice, the stronger it gets. Let it rest when need be, but keep up the practice
sessions. If your voice has completely lost its upper range to a light, wispy, and scratchy sound, bear with it until it
gets stronger. This wait for improvement shouldn't be a problem unless you're a professional singer; you can always quit
the band or choir for a couple of months or so until you build up the voice again using voice-builder. With this new voice,
you will have an unbelievable range and timbre- because you are utilizing the all-important "middle".
The great benefits that you will feel after using the voice-builder technique is more joy, and more energy in general. Your
lungs will also have a greater capacity for air, just as any singer would who trains regularly. Keep practicing it, and feel
free to email me with any feedback. Together, we will continue to develop and improve Vocalorgonometry, step-by-step.
